Poly 46

MRi Polytech’s stone binder is a 2-component, solvent-free and light-stable polyurethane binder system suitable for binding a variety of aggregates. The binder is based on aliphatic isocyanates and will not turn yellow when exposed to sunlight.
Our stone binder resin can be used in deep, wet pour locations – e.g. tree-pits or planters, or applied as a fully bound, variable thickness, layer on pathways or drives.
It is possible to use our binder system with any size of decorative aggregate, however, we recommend that aggregates larger than 10mm are not used. In practice, best appearance and performance is achieved by using aggregate between 5 and 10mm – 6mm being an optimum size.

It is imperative that only specially prepared aggregate for resin binding is used – aggregate that has been washed, screened and dried – to avoid any dust contaminating the clear binder and dulling the colour of the stone plus avoiding excessive foaming which occurs when damp aggregate is used. We recommend informing the aggregate supplier of the end use to ensure only suitable material is supplied.

MRi Polytech Stone Binder is carefully mixed – avoiding creating dust during mixing – with the required amount of aggregate. Mixing for 30 seconds to a minute should ordinarily be sufficient to ensure even coating of the aggregate with the binder.
The mixture should be poured into place and then levelled/compacted using either a float or a tamping bar (you might consider mechanical tools for assistance with larger areas). You can work with the mixture for approximately 30 – 40 minutes. It can be walked on in approximately 4 hours and it will be fully cured within 4 – 5 days.
